    Yes, would be good to integrate with existing plugin.

    But I was also thinking of where else geo-based weather reports could appear, for example in groups and user profiles, posts, pages, anything that GMW adds location data to… 😉

    Yup. I tried clicking outside the results (suggestions popup disappeared, the lat long was still present in the address box), however when I save the form it seems to still choose whatever the first result in that popup was. When I go to look at the map in the location tab it shows the address instead of the lat,long location I’d entered.

    I pasted lat,long numbers in to the address field, at which point it did an auto-suggest of the nearest postal address to that lat,long. Even though I didn’t click the suggestion (pressed Esc to hide suggest popup) it still decided to use the postal address rather than the lat long I’d entered. It would be nice if the address box could detect when a lat,long is entered and just use that (rather than trying to convert to a postal address). I realise that might cause some issues elsewhere – eg. UI where address is shown, but it’s vital as most of the places I’m involved with are in countryside or out at sea and thus have no postal address.

    1. Yes, already hidden it with CSS

    2. There isn’t a class on the ‘address’ span tag (see attached image) – also you’ve spelt ‘wrapper’ wrong in the CSS class gmw-gl-mt-address-wrapepr

    It would be trivial to add any prefix using the CSS :before feature, and this would result in much less HTML being output.

    For example, HTML could be simplified to:

    <div class="gmw-gl-mt-address-wrapper">
    <span>my, address, goes, here</span>
    </div>

    Then use following CSS to add in the ‘Address’ prefix:

    .gmw-gl-mt-address-wrapper span:before {content:"Address: ";}

    Another thing to consider might be using adr or hCard microformats throughout the GMW main plugin and addons:

    * http://microformats.org/wiki/adr
    * http://microformats.org/wiki/hcard

    That would allow people to install browser plugin that lets them click on a member to add to contacts, etc.

    Tried that, the autocomplete started working, but after saving none of the split fields had been updated. (Prior to changing to ‘single address field’ it was set up to use multiple fields with each field linked to relevant address component).

    I accept that the plugin isn’t currently designed to do what I described earlier, however could it be updated to work that way?

    In terms of implementation it might require a couple of new XProfile field type: “address autocomplete” and “address component”. The component field would have an extra option allowing admins to define what part of the address it relates to, and the autocomplete field would then be able to use JS on the frontend to automatically populate any component fields in the same field group. This would also mean that there would be no need for admins to choose between single or multiple – they could just put in whatever fields they want and because the settings are associated with fields the UI can automagically adapt.

    I tried using both an address field and also the split fields (street, town, etc) but ran in to some problems (see attached image).

    1. The address field no longer auto-completes while typing

    2. Even after saving the new address, the split fields don’t get populated.

    The reason I want to do this is to allow end-users to have granular control over (permissions) what information they show to other users, for example:

    * My house number / apt – only me
    * My street – friends
    * My town, province, country – everyone
    * My postal / ZIP code – friends

    And I want them to be able to more easily enter their address (main ‘address’ field) in a manner that reduces input error. So as they enter address, the split fields would update so they can see exactly what bits of their address will be stored and who will see them.

    Uhm, one more thing heh… Could the ‘get directions’ link be moved above the map to make it more obvious?

    Address: <whatever> – Get Directions

    or

    Address: <whatever> (Get Directions)

    But that’s only a minor thing. More than anything I desire the privacy settings stuff mentioned in the post edited earlier as that would be huge win for users. http://geomywp.com/support/forums/topic/xprofile-addon-not-working-properly/#post-11306

    One last thing… On the location tab, is there a need for the “Location” heading? It seems to duplicate the name of the tab = redundant and just hogging space, especially on mobile devices…

    I now see map in location tab when viewing another members profile, however it’s fixed to 400x400px size via inline styles – would be good if it defaults to something like 100% width and 300px height, but defined via a stylesheet rather than inline so that I can further customise it with my own CSS.

    Also, it would be good if I could use both ‘address’ and also the split fields at the same time. So I can just type in ‘address’ field to get autocomplete, which then puts address in address field and also the various parts of address in to the split fields.

    EDIT: This would provide some specific benefits in terms of privacy settings. I could set the ‘address’ field to be visible to just me, I could set the apt & street fields to be visible to friends, and I could set the town, state, country, etc., to be visible to everyone. If the map could then adapt to displaying info based on privacy settings, it would be very useful – it would mean that I could see my exact location, friends could see what street I’m on, and everyone else would just see what town I’m in.

    2) It would be great if map is shown in location tab when viewing my own profile if that’s at all possible. That way I get visual confirmation that my address is working properly because I can see my own map. It also ensures consistency across all members – location tab always shows map, regardless of who I look at, except when someone hasn’t entered their location.

    Ok, progress made – I’ve now added the address field, set up the addon config to use it and now I can enter my address when editing profile.

    Two issues, first is minor CSS issue – for some reason there’s no background on the autocomplete popup. I can probably fix this myself, but just thought I’d flag it as a possible bug in the addon.

    Second issue, I can’t work out how to get the location icon in the profile sections bar to display the map. In the addon description it states:

    “Disable location form in the “Location” tab ( display map of user’s location instead ) to force users to modify their location using profile fields.”

    So I’ve disabled the location tab, but it’s completely removed the tab and no map is being shown. How do I get the map to show in the “Location” tab?

    Ok, how do I do that? I don’t see any options in BP for configuring profile fields.

    I’ve found some fields in WP for editing user profile fields, is it there that I add an address field?

    If it’s in BP, then do I need some additional plugin to add a special address field type?

    I’m using WP 3.8.3 and BP 2.0 btw.
