ah. the (lol) “autolocator” i was referring to is actually called “Google Address Autofill”

so there we have it.. two separate things. i think this issue should be resolved now

    🙂

    hi Eyal,

The country code box had the value US in it previous to the error. While we can enable the ‘auto locator’, our users and admin have found it to be annoying, so we disabled. perhaps its something that needs to be re-enabled.

we are trying to get users to simply enter in 1 field (a zipcode) for location. previous to this approach we had them enter in other qualifying fields.. eg address, city, etc. which would explain why this started happening… it actually happened before on our beta build back in January

my question is… if the country code box has been previously selected as US, and this is being sent with the form data to the API, why is it still returning international addresses?

note: we are using v 2.5, and while i realize there is an upgrade to 2.6.0.2, we are not ready to upgrade our plugin set until a newer initiative is completed. however i would like to ask… was the ‘US’ country code value changed or modified since v2.5? I’m guessing probably not.

I guess i can dig deeper into the admin side code in the geo-my-wp\includes\admin to see what value the US country code is sending off to the API

i attempted this and it didn’t work. don’t know if i did something wrong.

    1) created 5 icons, m1.png, m2.png, m3.png, m4.png, m5.png
    2) put them in folder on server
    3) changed code at line 314
    $cluster_image = $protocol.'://toptrainer.staging.wpengine.com/wp-content/themes/top-trainer/img/m';

    orgiinal was $cluster_image = $protocol.'://toptrainer.staging.wpengine.com/wp-content/themes/top-trainer/img/m';

did i do something wrong? aren’t the red pins supposed to change now?

thanks Eyal.. almost done with configuration

    Hi Eyal,
can you tell me where/how to edit the array to change the colors of the markers?

Is it easy to change the red pins to our green(hex: 00b74f)? Just
curious. And Change the blue pin on your location to our blue (hex: 253746)?

i searched the google maps API documentation and its easy there. the challenge is that GWP is grabbing styles from functions.php in an array format, which (i may be wrong) is an added layer

also i searched snazzy maps and found they have a ‘marker’ element type

    Hi Hinjew 😉

    mission #2: fail

I went to the tutorial… did you just wrap jQuery(document).ready(function($) around the original code? seems the same

anywayz, here is a step by step process of what I tried.

    a) VERIFIED THAT WE ARE USING GWP 2.5

    1) go to /wp-content/plugins/geo-my-wp/geo-my-wp.php
[you have this listed on your tutorial as geo-my-wp/includes/geo-my-wp.php]

2)added the 86 lines of code you pasted on your tutorial.

3)attempted to pass [1] to the do_action call on geo-my-wp.php, but no results.

how can i get the do_action( ‘gmw_map_options’); to call back to the code created on geo-my-wp.php?

should i edit the code on line 612 of geo-my-wp.php?
    should i add do_action( ‘gmw_map_options’, ‘gmw_map_options’ ); to results.php?

hi.. I was wondering if you could shed any light on this

results.php is pulling all the members and putting them on the map.
we just need the class called back and displayed for ‘X’, not Y or Z

    HI Eyal,

I hope you had a sweet holiday. We are getting back to work on the site tomorrow..any word on when some instructions will be posted on how to implement the custom map styles?

    thanks,

    Hi Eyal.

I managed to get the issue resolved. The problem was shortcodes and the WPautoP function, which inserts the <p> tags into the data that is submitted through fields on the wp-admin side.

    Hi Eyal,

Thank you so much for your fast response!

I installed GEOmyWP on our staging site.

here is the result of the public page:

    http://toptrainer.staging.wpengine.com/members/testtrainer/location/

The custom front page is made with bootstrap, but it looks like these subpages are from a wp theme folder unrelated to those bootstrap styles.

Having looked at the source on the above link, it seems that Jquery is supposed to inject the API content into the DIV that holds the map, and it isn’t getting called back/isn’t displaying on this theme. Like you said, i tried loading through the console:

    getting a SyntaxError:
    jQuery(document).ready(function($) {</p>

additionally, there is syntax error on buttons.js
not sure if this is related

however, on a 2014 theme, the map does display. see screenshot
    top trainer 2014 theme

So based on all of the above, assuming GEOmyWP has clean working javascript, i can only guess that there’s a .js getting called when this theme is being used, which is causing the conflict.

any further ideas? also we can email you backend screenshots as well (list of plugins, etc.) stuff we don’t want posted publicly

thanks… looking forward to fixing this issue and also implementing a search by zipcode function

EDIT… I got the map to show by turning off the custom theme and reverting to 2014, and then directly accessing a user account via url.

so my next tasks are finding out how to resolve this issue… seems the theme is over-riding the code from the plugin… probably css and js

after that, i’d like to have a search by zipcode function

again, we will pay for premium features and support, so long as we get a reply in a reasonable amount of time.

    thanks!
